Sounds a bit pretentious, but actually at the moment “The Qur’an” (translation by M.A.S. Abdel Haleem, Oxford World’s Classics).
Given all that is happening in the world, it seemed to make sense to actually read it. So far fascinating, and although I’ve not yet read the majority of the book, I have to say I don’t see anything that justifies extremism. In fact, it seems to actually encourage people who believe in one God, whoever they are, to come together. My dream: that we will one day, via bullitthd.com, get all the leading religions in one room to truly map out a way forward, not based on differences but on making the world a better place. Watch this space.
Also reading Creativity Inc by Ed Catmull. Yep a bloke multi tasking, who would’ve expected that? This was one of the dudes that established Pixar Animation (Toy Story, Finding Nemo etc).
The book is not only truly fascinating and inspirational, but what struck me was that everything we are trying to do, re our company, is in line with what Ed has written. Important sub note (and I will defo expand on this in future blogs).
Doing something completely different re a business model can be the most lonely place in the world. Why? Because you’re challenging convention, and that means the majority of people just don’t get it. Therefore anything from people who have been there and done it, and confirms your beliefs in any shape or form. Brilliant.
